This years playoffs has all the storylines they need. Alabama is the unquestioned power house of college football, you have an underdog in Oklahoma, and a team of destiny with a magical win that is Michigan State. They’re all great teams but none of them are the top ranked team. Clemson seems to be left out of the conversation when it comes to the actual champions, they’re not even the favorite later on today as they take on the the #4 seed Oklahoma. Clemson is the only team that managed to go undefeated this year and their roster is filed with stars.
The offense is filled with stars lead by Heisman finalist and starting quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson has been almost unstoppable in both the passing and rushing attack for Clemson late in the season and he causes fits for defenses all game long. They also have great receivers with Artavis Scott and Charon Peake. They also have a good rusher to go along with Watson, Wayne Gallman who has accounted for over 1,000 yards and 10 TD’s. This is a championship offense to say the least and they can put up points on anyone especially Oklahoma’s defense.
As good as the offense is the defense may be even better. They have played bad games and let up points and their stats aren’t as eye popping as Alabama’s. They have however played at their best when it matters the most. In terms of talent they are in abundance. They have stars like Shaq Lawson, Jayron Kearse, and Mackensie Alexander. Lawson has played great this getting 53 tackles and 9.5 sacks while also being named an all American. Kearse is a first round prospect at NFL level and has been a leader in the secondary. Helping him out in the secondary is cornerback Mackensie Alexander, the third first round prospect on this defense has setup an island rarely visited as he’s one of the least targeted corners in college football. The Tigers have proved to play at their best in clutch and pressure situations throughout the year and they have established stars they can lean on. They’ve gone undefeated all year and I don’t expect that to change tonight.
