Following a great finish to the 2016 recruiting season Michigan has already gotten off to a hot start for its 2017 class. Yesterday the younger brother of Stanford star, Christian McCaffrey, committed to the Wolverines.
Dylan McCaffrey, currently a junior in high school, is the 45th ranked recruit and the 2nd best pro-style quarterback. Like his brother was, Dylan McCaffrey is the best player in Colorado and played great last season. He went for 2,800 passing yards and 27 touchdowns while adding 593 yards and another 13 TD’s on the ground all on top of winning a Colorado state title. The younger brother of Christian McCaffrey also projects well to the college game thanks to the desired size for quarterback, as he is listed at 6’5” 200lbs.
McCaffrey will be joining the Wolverines in 2 years and there are already rumors stating that he’s the QB of the future, and he could be coming into a very good situation. Michigan’s starter from last season, Jake Rudock, is set to graduate leaving incoming freshman Brandon Peters as the presumed starter. If Peters performs poorly during his first season or Michigan struggles to find a capable passer at all next year, then McCaffrey could come in and compete for a starting job right away. He also fits the mold of a Harbaugh QB. He is tall prospect that can sling the ball and just like Harbaugh’s former stars Andrew Luck and Colin Kaepernick, McCaffrey can make plays with his legs if he needs to. I hope America likes the McCaffrey’s because they’ll be hearing the name a lot more between the 2 brothers.
