Can Stanford upset USC? and More PAC-12 Week 2 Action

Every team in the PAC-12 has played now and only Oregon State has a loss this season so far. Week one had plenty of action which was highlighted by UCLA’s last second comeback win over Texas A&M. Star QB Josh Rosen had a stellar performance and showed off his immense talent but it’s the other QB in LA who needs to play big this week. That would be Sam Darnold of USC who will be on the Stanford Cardinal this week.

AR-161009420.jpg&maxh=400&maxw=667Both Stanford and USC stand at 1-0 and are top 25 teams with USC ranked 4th and Stanford 14th. USC played Western Michigan this past week and they struggled more than people expected. The defense struggled most of the game as did the offense. Darnold was largely unimpressive and tossed 2 interceptions to zero TD’s while, a performance that cannot be repeated if he wants to win this game. If it weren’t for Ronald Jones II the Trojans would have started the season off with a loss. Stanford’s defense is one of the most impressive in the country and they won’t let Jones run all over them. Stanford’s offense is also deadly this year and has far more talent than Western Michigan does so they should have no problem putting points up against the Trojans. I expect Keller Chryst to put on an impressive performance and lead the Stanford to a win over USC. This will also be the game that starts to show people Darnold is the most overrated player in the country.

WillieTaggart-1Another game to lookout for this week Oregon vs Nebraska. Week one under new head coach Willie Taggart was a massive win for the ducks as they decimated Southern Utah 77-21. Nebraska isn’t great this year but it will be interesting to see how Oregon continues to progress under their new coach. Royce Freeman proved he’s one of the top backs in the country and his numbers should be great all season in the new offense. He has become a great pass catcher and teams won’t have the luxury of game planning against a one trick back. If the Ducks win big this week they could have a real shot at moving into the top 25.
