Just How Legit Are UCF And McKenzie Milton?

Would you believe it if I told you that the Central Florida Knights have the most points scored per game in the entire FBS? It doesn’t really matter if you would or not because you better believe it, well at least believe that they are tied for the nation’s best with Ohio State. Both the Knights and the Buckeyes have scored 47.3 points each game on average.

A big reason as to why the Knights have found the successes that they have thus far this season is thanks to the play of quarterback McKenzie Milton (pictured). Milton has tossed for over 1,700 with 16 touchdowns and has led UCF to a perfect 6-0 record. Probably the most impressive thing about Milton’s play is his ability to limit turnovers, he only has thrown 3 interceptions averaging to 0.5 per game and trails only Baker Mayfield in Passer Efficiency.

Milton’s astounding play has opened the floodgates for the rest of the UCF offense including a strong group of four wide receivers. The wide receiving corps is led by Tre’Quan Smith (above) who has 21 receptions for 436 yards and 8 touchdowns in just six games. Other reliable pass catchers for the Knights have been Dredrick Snelson (18 receptions for 285 yards and a TD), Jordan Akins (14 catches for 261 yards and 3 TDs) and Otis Anderson (16 receptions for 203 yards). Even running back Adrian Killins Jr has been impactful in the passing game with 14 grabs, 134 yards and a TD for his own. Killins Jr has also has hit his stride in the rushing game both literally and figuratively, averaging over 8 yards per carry and contributed a 96 yard touchdown scamper just a few weeks back.

Although at the end of the day, all of this success does not really matter unless they have something to show for it at the end of the season. The Knights will not face their worthiest opponent until their last game of the regular season against Quinton Flowers (above) and the USF Bulls. It seems to be a literal winner take all matchup in the making, with the winner taking the American East Conference crown and head to the American Conference Championship against the West and perhaps one of the New Year’s Six Bowl Games.
